About the Organization
- 60 Year Tradition -
With a
heritage extending over 60 years, the Appraisal Institute www.appraisalinstitute.org is
the premier organization of professional real estate appraisers. It has
general appraisal members who hold the MAI, SRPA or SREA designation and
residential appraisal members who hold the SRA or RM designation. Identified
by their experience and knowledge of real estate valuation, these members
adhere to a strictly enforced Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of
Professional Appraisal Practice. Currently, the Appraisal Institute confers
one general designation, the MAI, and one residential designation, the SRA.
The Appraisal Institute is the world's largest publisher of real estate appraisal
literature and offers an extensive education appraisal curriculum. In
addition, the Appraisal Institute sponsors a Master's Degree Program that
enables students to earn education credit that can be applied toward the MAI
designation.
- About the Local Chapter -
The
Northern Ohio Chapter was established on July 1, 1994. The memberships of the
former Akron-Canton, Cleveland, Mohican and Northeast Chapters recognized
that service to membership would be better accomplished with the combined
talents and resources. The combined members welcome your inquiries regarding
the appraisal profession.
